Milk, cream, yoghurt and eggs arrive from the dairy every second morning, so the date on the carton is usually the day after you get it plus a week. Cartons and tubs come as they are; the cheese is cut from the wheel at the counter.

The plant drinks sit on this aisle too, next to the milk rather than in a separate corner — that is where people actually look for them.
