Verdant Mill Vine Tomatoes, loose
Never put these in the fridge. Below about 12 °C a tomato stops producing the compounds that make it taste like one, and the change is permanent — a warmed-up cold tomato is still a bland tomato. Keep them stem-up on the counter out of direct sun and use them within four days. The vine is worth keeping too: dropped into a pan sauce it adds more tomato flavour than the fruit does.

Loose produce is picked into your order on the morning it leaves us, and meat and counter cheese are cut the same day. Everything travels chilled in insulated totes.

Do not wash produce before storing it — damp skin is what starts the rot. Wash it when you cook it.
Order before 14:00 for next-day delivery, or pick a two-hour evening slot. Collection from any of our stores is free and usually ready within two hours.

Sweet, properly red the whole way through, and the vine really does add something to a pan sauce. Not cheap, but cheaper than any greenhouse tomato worth eating.

Good in winter, excellent in summer — I have bought both and the difference is large. Worth knowing before you order in February.
